A collection curated by Knowledge SUCCESS and Family Planning 2020 for family planning professionals who design and implement programs in low- and middle-income French-speaking countries.
The newest collection in our “20 Essentials” series focuses on francophone programs. We curated this collection in collaboration with Family Planning 2020 to provide voluntary family planning and reproductive health professionals who design and implement programs in low- and middle-income Francophone countries with the tools they need to improve health and accelerate development.
“There is a diversity of important resources on family planning and reproductive health, but they are only available in English.” This is the sentiment that FP/RH professionals working in French-speaking African countries often express, and was echoed by participants of our Francophone Sub-Saharan Africa regional co-creation workshop in May. We created the collection to remove this barrier, providing FP/RH professionals working in French-speaking regions—notably West Africa, Central Africa, Madagascar and Haiti—access to French resources on a range of priority topics and in a variety of formats. Finally, this collection aims to highlight and promote local FP/RH resources developed by experts from the region.
There are many essential and high quality materials for francophone programs beyond what we have included in this collection. Our goal was to create a solid foundation of resources that will support professionals to become more informed and better equipped for the proper implementation of their activities.

The resources in this collection highlight evidence, guidelines and best practices from global and regional experts on priority topics such as approaches to self-care, the integration of voluntary family planning and HIV care, and social and behavior change strategies. The collection also includes resources on functional areas such as advocacy, strategic planning, and knowledge management for voluntary family planning.
The 20 resources are curated in a single hub, making it easy for you to navigate technical topics and functional areas.
The collection includes a variety of formats, such as reports, videos, infographics, and journal articles, to meet the needs of different learning styles.
Each resource page includes an explanation of why that resource is essential, to help you decide if it is relevant and timely for your own work.
