A social demographer and sociologist by training, Dela Nai’s work focuses on family planning, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, and engaging with decision makers to bring to scale successful programs and interventions. In Ghana, Dela has led the implementation of studies and interventions, including the feasibility and acceptability of a subcutaneous contraceptive injection (DMPA-SC), community and provider driven social accountability in family planning, situational analysis of adolescent girls and young women, ending child marriage, as well as a qualitative evaluation of safe spaces for girls in Zambia. She has also served as principal investigator on studies assessing the feasibility of training private pharmacy staff to offer family planning services in Senegal and fertility-related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors among adolescents in Burkina Faso. As Research and Program Advisor for the AmplifyPF project, she recently co-led a mixed-method assessment of FP service delivery continuity during COVID-19 in the project’s 17 intervention sites across Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Niger, and Togo.
