Dr. Joan Regina L. Castro, M.D. is the Executive Vice President of PATH Foundation Philippines, Inc. (PFPI). She has more than 20 years of public health experience working on HIV/AIDS, STIs, FP/RH, sexual and reproductive health, and water, sanitation, and hygiene including applying the Population, Health Environment (PHE) approach. Dr. Castro has worked with various stakeholders in the Philippines and internationally. She is currently the Principal Investigator of PFPI for the BUILD Program, a global population, environment, and development (PED) program that promotes integrated PED approaches.

The Philippines has been a pioneer of programming using the multisectoral Population, Health, and Environment (PHE) approach to improve conservation efforts, family planning, and overall health. A new publication highlights insights and themes from two decades of PHE programming, sharing lessons for others involved in multisectoral approaches.
