Chief Science Officer, FHI 360

Timothy D. Mastro, MD, DTM&H is Chief Science Officer at FHI 360, Durham, North Carolina. He is also Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology in the Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He oversees FHI 360’s research and science-based programs conducted in the United States and through FHI 360’s offices in 50 countries around the world. Dr. Mastro joined FHI 360 in 2008 following 20 years in scientific leadership positions at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). His work has addressed research and programs on HIV treatment and prevention, TB, STIs and reproductive health, including serving on the scientific management committee for the ECHO randomized clinical trial investigating HIV acquisition risk and benefits for three contraceptive methods among women in Africa.
