Favorite presentation: Youth trailblazer Reine Stéphany Thiombiano (Burkina Faso) speaking at the opening ceremonies, where she delivered some strong messages.
"We have to accelerate to make family planning a catalyst for sustainable development for all.” >> Watch the recording.
One thing I learned: I heard about unisex condoms for the first time as a family planning method, and I learned how they work!
>> Hear about the unisex condom in this Trailblazer News report.
Moment of fun: I confused a condom wrapper for a chocolate bar because the packaging looked pretty and I was hungry.

Tip: How to save time when creating multiple profile popups.
Create one popup that has the image, text format, animations, and interactions you want each personal profile popup to have. Copy and paste the popup and change the names of the pasted popup folders in the layers panel. Next, edit the text and replace the images in each popup folder. Once completed, each popup will have unique content but a consistent format. This is more efficient than making each popup from scratch.
Hover interactions allow you to reveal or hide folders, objects, or groups when the user hovers their mouse over your specified trigger.
In this template, when the user hovers over an image an opaque shape appears over the image. This hover interaction communicates that an additional interaction will be triggered when the user clicks on the image.
A team profile section can provide insightful information about individuals and their roles within a team or company.
Template - Team Profiles with Popups
1280px x 720px
To add a hover interaction, draw a hotspot over the area you want the user to hover. Select the hotspot and navigate to the Interaction tab in the Inspector Panel. Select “hover” as your trigger and specify the action, which can be: show, hide, show and stay visible, or hide and stay hidden. Finally, choose the folder, object, or group you want to reveal or hide.
Favorite presentations:
1) The Knowledge SUCCESS roundtable discussion on AYSRH experiences in Asia where one attendee expressed, “We need to be talking about youth as partners, not as participants.”
2) Pitch finalist Strong Enough Girls' Empowerment Initiative presenting on the ICFP Live stage. >> Watch the recording.
One thing I learned: The youth pre-conference sessions had a lot of energy and interactive activities—this was a great example of effective KM in action. Throughout the conference, I heard family planning professionals and organizations saying they need and want knowledge management, but more advocacy support is required to fund it.
Moment of fun: Exploring Bangkok and seeing many of our colleagues at the CCP reception.
Favorite presentation: Dr. Tlaleng Mofokeng (Dr. T)’s inspirational presentation at the Power-shifting pre-conference event:
“To all you saviors, stop. African women can save themselves.”
One thing I learned: Digital health for FP is everywhere! I saw so many examples at sessions, posters, and booths, especially from India. For example, a game co-created by adolescent girls in Hindi-speaking regions of India helps build girls’ knowledge and decision-making confidence on SRH.
Moment of fun: Dipping my feet in the ocean in Pattaya, and going snorkeling in Krabi after the conference.
Favorite presentation: In the IBP Pre-conference session, we talked about the importance of communication, and how we should be communicating evidence with others outside the SRHR and FP community, such as policy makers.
One thing I learned: I loved talking to people at the Knowledge SUCCESS booth and learning how to introduce specific products based on the audience’s needs and backgrounds.
Moment of fun: Trying to insert an IUD in a demo model—and it got stuck mid-way! I also had fun practicing my French with francophone colleagues.
Favorite presentation: Dr. Venkatraman Chandra-Mouli (WHO) on the “Oops! Aha! Learning from ‘Failures’ in FP Program Implementation” panel discussion when reflecting on the importance of diversifying solutions to development problems:
“If the only tool in your toolkit is a hammer, then every other problem you encounter looks like a nail.” >> Read the recap.
One thing I learned: Pleasure is a subject matter topic in SRH. There is a project run by IPPF that focuses specifically on pleasure.
Moment of fun: Using public transportation in Pattaya and going out for ice cream.
Favorite presentation: Opportunities for synergistic solutions at the intersection of planetary and human well-being by Kristen Patterson
One thing I learned: Co-creation is a critical tool for collaboration and preventing huge failures in our work.
Moment of fun: The site visits!—especially, the Noen Plub Wan community (they had great snacks).
Favorite presentation: In Ipas President Ana Kumar’s closing plenary speech for the “Shifting power and advancing equity in global health” pre-conference event, she talked about how SRH is rooted in white supremacy. She defined power as encompassing three things: money, knowledge production, and operations. With Ipas’ approach to distributed leadership, they see themselves as a network—the US staff is not at the center, but rather simply a node within the network.
“Funding should be trust based, not fear based.”
One thing I learned: This wasn’t a new learning, but it was confirmed for me what an awesome team we have, seeing everyone’s energy and hard work and excellent organization skills in action at the conference.
Moment of fun: Getting a Thai massage!
Favorite presentation: In the youth pre-conference session on climate change and SRHR, Sono Aibe (Preston Werner) talked about how intensifying natural disasters are having real time impacts on the health and wellbeing of women around the globe. She also spoke to mental health issues like “climate anxiety," which is especially prominent among the younger generations.
>> Read a new brief on the sustained impacts of a project that addressed climate change and SRHR in East Africa.
One thing I learned: The Cabbages & Condoms restaurant as a public health initiative that brings awareness to safe sex practices and funds local family planning programs.
Moment of fun: Spending a day with rescued elephants in the highlands outside of Chiang Mai.
