WEBINAR: Adolescent Fertility: Addressing the Family Planning Needs of Adolescents Who Are in Union or Are First-Time Parents

Join FP2030 and Knowledge SUCCESSS  for this webinar on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, 8:30AM -10:00 AM (EDT).

Join FP2030 and Knowledge SUCCESS as we explore how reaching married or in union young people and young people who are first time parents with quality FP services can be an effective approach to improve Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health (AYSRH) outcomes.

AYSRH programs often focus solely on unmarried adolescents to prevent unintended pregnancy, yet data shows many adolescents who are vulnerable to early pregnancy are those young women who are married or in union. Despite global efforts to prevent early marriage, the practice persists in many countries. And whether in marriage or not, adolescents who have given birth are often overlooked by AYSRH or MCH programs, which leads to higher rates of closely spaced pregnancies which are detrimental to both mother and child(ren). We’ll dive into key data on adolescent fertility, discuss the main drivers of adolescent pregnancy, and examine program examples and resources to reach young first-time parents. The webinar will help practitioners better understand the needs of this population as well as opportunities and approaches to meet those needs.
