Dear Family Planning Champion,

Provider bias in contraceptive service delivery can drastically reduce the impact of family planning programs, especially for adolescents and youth. Is your program addressing provider bias? Check out this new three-part series of briefs from Pathfinder’s Beyond Bias project on how human-centered design (HCD) can be applied to sexual and reproductive health programs (SRH) to address provider bias in contraceptive service delivery for young people.

OUR PICK THIS WEEK

Beyond Bias: Human-Centered Design

HCD has recently gotten attention from global health programs, but its application varies widely, and its documentation is limited. The Beyond Bias project sought to expand the knowledge base by documenting its experience using HCD in a multidisciplinary approach to develop effective, scalable adolescent and youth SRH interventions.

This package of three briefs covers programmatic challenges and opportunities, outlines salient ideas and concepts that were generated and tested, shares key insights on provider bias, and presents the finalized intervention design. Explore this resource to think about incorporating HCD concepts into your work to ensure that young people have access to empathetic, non-judgmental, quality counseling, and provision of a full range of contraceptive methods.
