Dear Family Planning Champion,
Expanding contraceptive choice increases a woman’s ability to voluntarily adopt a family planning method that best meets her needs. For some women, that method is a highly effective, long-acting, reversible contraceptive with notable non-contraceptive health benefits, like the levonorgestrel intrauterine system (IUS) or the hormonal IUS. Although its availability has been limited in low-resource settings, that may be changing as new, more affordable hormonal IUS products become available.
