Dear Family Planning Champion,
If there is one thing that COVID-19 has taught all of us—it is how to be flexible and innovative in our ideas and actions in order to navigate this very different environment we’re currently living in. This week, we bring you an example of innovation occurring in Nairobi, Kenya, to ensure that pregnant women are able to access essential services in the evening hours, amid lockdown and curfew directives.

Wheels for Life, a collaboration between public and private partners, was launched by the Kenya Ministry of Health to help expectant mothers navigate to emergency services during the evening hours. Bolt, a partner on the initiative and an online taxi operator, provides free rides to pregnant women for emergency medical care during the hours that curfew are in place due to COVID-19 in Nairobi and its surrounding areas.
