Cluster Coordinator/ HSS Programme Officer, Amref Health Africa Uganda
Henry Wasswa is a Public Health Specialist and researcher with over 10 years of experience in driving positive change in Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV). He is currently leading and designing impactful programs at Amref Health Africa Uganda, focusing on strengthening health systems and improving adolescent SRHR outcomes in high-burden districts of Busoga Region under the HEROES programme. Prior to joining Amref, Henry served in several capacities at Reproductive Health Uganda, an IPPF affiliate, where he coordinated, designed and implemented capacity building initiatives on various SRHR/FP projects such as the Women Integrated Sexual Health Project (WISH2ACTIO Lot 2), SHE DECIDES; Stand-Up for SRHR to increase access to equitable and quality family planning and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services to reduce maternal mortality, unintended pregnancies, unsafe abortions and teenage pregnancies. Henry has published several abstracts at local and international conferences, WHO-IBP implementation stories and won the Sir William Gilliatt Awards at RCOG Congress 2023. As a passionate advocate, mentor, and researcher, he seeks to empower young people and healthcare providers to make informed decisions about their health and well-being while contributing to the body of knowledge on SRHR and SGBV. He is a Knowledge Management champion and FP Insight Ambassador driving evidence-based decision-making and fostering collaboration within the East African Collaborative.
