Providing family planning counseling as part of childbirth care before a woman departs a facility, and as part of quality post-abortion care are key interventions to ensure that rapid repeat pregnancies are avoided. Yet for years measurement of these recognized High Impact Practices was insufficient so that it was difficult for countries to track progress and prioritize these key interventions. In 2019, a measurement subcommittee of the FP2020 Global Steering Committee came together to develop indicators for measuring progress in postpartum and post-abortion family planning. Since then, the indicators have been adapted and used in many countries with some differences in implementation.

This webinar, co-hosted by FP2030 North, West, & Central Africa Hub and Knowledge SUCCESS, will provide a refresher on the indicators themselves. Implementers from Nigeria, Burkina Faso, and Rwanda share how they adopted and adapted the indicators to fit their context and what learnings they would share with others.
